Why

Clarify your purpose. What is the why behind everything you do? When we know this in life or design it is very empowering and the path is clear.

— Jack Canfield

I have wanted to write a blog for a while, but I wasn’t sure if anyone would care about what I had to say.. I have pushed myself through boundaries and transformed my body, but why would anyone else care? And then I realized a few things – if just one person cares enough to follow the blog and find useful information or motivation from it, then I have succeeded in my purpose to motivate others to push themselves; and two, this is also for me. I need this as my own personal record of feelings and thoughts, as a place to store important information about training and nutrition, and on my journey in motherhood.

I recently discovered that my social media following has a split view on my pregnancy – with roughly 64% of my followers being male, I lost several hundred since the announcement that I was expecting. I was shocked.. while this pregnancy was unplanned, I was excited to follow in the footsteps of a few of my fitness idols and have a healthy, kickass “fit pregnancy” and share it with the world. This revelation made it even harder to start my blog. When I originally found out that I was pregnant I took the news hard. I had planned on competing in July of 2018 in the hopes of earning my Pro card as a natural athlete, and then working on starting a family. Instead, my plans were jump started a year or so early. Don’t get me wrong, my partner is the absolute man of my dreams and we had talked about starting our family; plus I have always wanted to be a mom. However, being a very organized, strategic thinker, having my “timeline” changed was enough to throw me into spiral of self-doubt and panic about my future in the fitness industry. Thankfully I still have some very loyal family, friends, and followers that have been extremely supportive and excited, thus re-igniting my motivation and passion for educating and inspiring others. They are my why. My new family is my why. My determination to continue to push myself and be the best athlete, partner, and mother are my why.
